About us

We’re a Dutch–Japanese couple: two dads sharing life with our little girl.

This journal is a place for the things we thought about on the way to becoming a family, and the everyday life that follows. We share them through illustrations and our own words.

Why we share

We hope our everyday stories make life with two dads feel a little more familiar in Japan, and help someone who hopes to become a parent imagine a future of their own.

One family’s experience

We plan to write about surrogacy and egg donation from our own experience. We’ll distinguish what happened in our circumstances from information we research, keeping differences between countries and time periods in mind.

Our everyday, in illustrations

We tell stories from real family conversations and experiences through illustrations and short animations. Names and appearances are adapted for privacy. Not every image recreates a particular photograph or documents a specific event.
